Stephen Collett of Bootle, Liverpool has exhibited his impressionistic paintings across the globe. Having painted from the age of 5 it was clear he was destined for a career in the arts!
His work is mainly influenced by the French impressionists, finding Cezanne’s techniques and practises most fascinating, being centuries before his time. Whistler, Rothko, Van Gogh and Da Vinci also inspire him.
He says ‘My work is typically oil on canvas and I am currently inspired by cityscapes. I pride myself on painting light rather than form and as a consequence my work has taken on a very impressionistic form which is very effective when scaled down or viewed at a short distance. ‘
