Baltic is a coalition between two Liverpool based artists, Anna Benson and Roisin Hyland.
They create weird and wonderful jewellery adorned with feathers, jewels, clocks, keys and all things nice. It’s like wearing strange little artworks round your neck/head/earlobes that have come from some far away place and time.
Here’s Formed one windy, wet, sleety, snowy, blowy, dark, starry night in 2009. They decided to team up to do an exhibition. On the night of the Folkloristic’s preview they could not find anything unique to wear. Disappointed but inspired by their own artwork they decided to make their own. People loved it! and wondered where they could buy it.
From that day on they decided to create accessories that they would both love to wear. Jewellery with an edge! that could not be found on the high street. Searching through antique shops they soon assembled beautiful items they could use to start creating their threasures. Their jewellery became more then just something to wear, it became small works of art. Each piece is as unique as its owner and made with love and care.
Come and see Baltic’s creations along with the work of another 100 artists at the Winter Arts Market on Nov 27th from 10am-5pm at St George’s Hall Liverpool – the largest arts market in the North West no less!
